SEO is mostly common sense. There is not much magic or secrets to it. Create good unique content, lots of it and let people know about it.

Make sure you don't make any errors by trying to trick the engines, they are smarter than most people think.

Title Tags

  • Make sure that each page in your site has unique, keyword-targeted search terms
  • Having duplicate titles on many pages limits a search engine to rank your pages.

Page URLs

  • Include targeted keywords in the webpage URL to make sure that each URL accurately describes your page
  • The goal here is simply to make each URL as easy-to-read as possible, so that search engine spiders (and humans) have an easier time understanding your site structure.

Metatags

  • The <meta name = “keywords”…> tag used to be the primary source of data to determine relevancy. Today, search engines can determine relevancy based on site content. It is argued that meta keywords and descriptions are rarely looked at by search engines. However, providing unique meta descriptions for each page is seen as a positive component.

H Tags

  • One of the most significant factors, is the use of H tags. Headline tags generate well-formed HTML and CSS code and organize your site well for the users to read.

Image Tags

  • ALT text and in your IMG tags is a widely recognized SEO best practice for increasing page relevancy. And, it's a great way to improve usability for the visually impaired. But make sure you don't stuff your keywords too much.

Body Text

  • Nothing more increases your chance of ranking high than good body content. It will will not only get you found, but keep your visitors coming back.

Internal/External Links

  • Linking and the quality of links that point to your page. There are ones that come from the outside your site, and those that come from inside your site. Inbound links (IBLs) are much harder to generate. But you can easily control (and should) your internal link structure.
  • Humans and search engine spiders alike will be told how valuable each of your pages is relative to one another. Fortunately, with Typo3, it is very simple to do.
  • Built in to the Editor is an "Insert Web Link" tool which allows you to specify parameters about your links, such a target, window size, style, and title. Once you select your link, Typo3 remembers the location, so that if you ever move or rename pages, your links remain linked and not broken
